Oriole Mine
Previous Next

The Oriole Silver Mine near Galice in the Rogue River area of Southwestern Oregon was photographed in February 1959 with Billy Pruitt, Inaís nephew and a local river boating guide, walking along the road beside it. Desiring to preserve on canvas some of Oregonís perishing old landmarks, Ina first painted this scene in 1964 on a 24 x 30 canvas, signed it in the lower left, and dated it "64." It appeared in four shows, the last of which was the City of Paris in San Francisco, where the painting sold to James Dissman March 16, 1966. The current owner purchased the painting from Mr. Dissmanís estate.
